I am trying to find out weather MBA (Finance) students can opt for economics as an optional for UGC NET but I am not able to find any concrete answer to this.Though the UGC website ask you to opt for subject specialisation in your PG, it does not restrict from opting other related subject. Can you please advise on this or provide a point of contact who despite being an MBA opted for economics. This would be very helpful for me.

      Hello Aanchal,

It totally depends on how much knowledge you already have vs what you need to acquire. This primarily means that you need to look at the syllabus and material at hand to evaluate your current preparation status.

If we assume that you haven’t started yet and you want to start preparation from zero, then we will suggest that you start with non-general knowledge subjects like Business Management, Business Economics, Financial Management, Tax, Accounts, Costing, Statistics.

Business Environment and International Business though basic in nature is very wide and hence general reading of these subjects everyday should build the base.

For paper I, Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Polity and Higher Education, Communication, Reading comprehension and Logical reasoning are the areas which can be prepared.

It is not impossible to crack this exam in 1 month, it is only matter of identifying the areas which you can prepare confidently and will be able to answer the questions.

Time and effort is relative and hence when lesser time is left, that means you need to study more hours every day with higher dedication.

      All the best!

      Thank You
